Friendship Center Camp offers each child a multicultural and caring atmosphere in a small family-like setting. Staff are experienced volunteers with a wide variety of talents and skills.
The twelve boys and girls, ages nine through twelve, attending camp receive individual attention in reading, writing and critical thinking, as well as science, environmental studies, recreation and crafts.
We focus on the development of the whole child and encourage the love of learning.
This year’s theme, The World Beneath Our Feet - Roots, Rocks and Creepy Crawlies, will be woven into our camp activities throughout the week. We will explore the science, beauty and the importance of the soil, rocks, plants, and critters right under our shoes. Field trips and guest experts will help our understanding of this beautiful Driftless Area of Wisconsin.
Campers will enjoy a variety of daily camp activities including cooking, swimming, hiking, games, art, astronomy, campfires and free time. Campers and staff share in the daily chores of camp as well as planning activities. We encourage creativity, sharing with others, independence and thinking for oneself in the context of community living.
Campers will heighten their awareness of nature around them by exploring different ecological communities . . . forest, creek, prairie, stream, rock outcropping . . . becoming familiar with the unfamiliar while nurturing their sense of wonder about the natural world.
